InterContinental London – The O2
I had not visited this particular Intercontinental previously so I didn’t know quite what to expect.
Upon arrival we were greeted by 2 very helpful members of the concierge team who took my luggage and parked the car for me. The first thing about the hotel that struck me was the vastness of it, It’s structure stands out in the Greenwich peninsula, housing 453 luxury rooms with stunning views across Canary Wharf and the Thames, a grand ballroom with a capacity of 3000 the hotel is huge.
Our room wasn’t quite ready so we headed up to the Club Lounge where we were greeted by lovely staff and lots of intimae tables to sit and relax at. The club lounge offers complimentary canapes and drinks any time of day, so perfect for a mid morning snack or an afternoon treat.
We were contacted by reception once our room was ready and it really was worth waiting for! The floor to ceiling glass windows were the highlight as the views were immense and ideal for me to get lots of shots, I was working with the brighton beard company, Jack Black, Rituals, The house of Cavani and Dapper Dan for this shoot and managed to get some perfect shots with London as a stunning backdrop.
The bathroom is also worth a mention, spacious, glamorous and with a separate bath and rain shower so the option to please shower and bath lovers alike.
The Spa located on the ground floor is a haven of tranquility, and there are 3 restaurants to choose from depending on your choice of cuisine. We chose the Market Brasserie and were not disappointed.
We were seated by very friendly waited named Billy who proceeded to look after us like we were royalty for the evening. Our table situated near the window overlooked the Thames.
From our starter through to desert everything was immaculately presented and utterly delicious. We booked a table for later on in the Sky bar on the 18th floor and went for a wander. The secret passage through to the 02 really is the perfect idea for hotel guests especially those staying for a concert.
The Sky bar was all we had expected and so much more. The views across London were phenomenal and the service first class.
I really couldn’t recommend the hotel enough, it is slightly out of central London where I would usually opt to stay but with all the hotels amenities and the 02 bursting with restaurants and a fabulous new shopping mall there really is plenty to do.
