During these unprecedented times and with my up and coming holidays cancelled, I decided to treat myself to a ‘staycation,’ especially as it seems to be the ‘year of staycations’ it felt only right to do so!I picked one of my favourite hotels, Cliveden House, and thought I would get away from all the hustle and bustle of London for a while. Although a spa weekend is exactly what I needed I wanted to add something a bit special so I decided to test drive a Ferrari! Why not? It seemed like the perfect way to let off some steam and really let my hair down.

I picked up a red Ferrari Portofino and just looking at it got my heart racing. When I was handed the keys I could not believe I was about to drive my dream car. I could feel that my eyes were probably popping out of my head. I climbed into the leather drivers seat and just sat for a minute, taking a few deep breaths and looking around at the gorgeous interior. I started up the engine and she sounded incredible, as you would expect. On my first touch of the gas pedal I could feel the power of the V8 GT engine and couldn’t wait to get her off of the forecourt and drive around. At first, I could feel myself really gripping at the steering wheel but within a few minutes I relaxed into the driving experience. I felt very flashy and could not stop smiling, the term Cheshire cat springs to mind! I pulled over so that I could really check out the luxury of the interior; the 10.2” touchscreen display, the 18-way electrically adjustable seats and, again, that leather. People were driving and walking past just staring at the car, it makes you feel very cool.

In case you were wondering, of course I had the roof down so I literally did ‘let my hair down’. What was great is that the wind deflector made sure that the air flow inside the cabin wasn’t completely messing up my hair. One of the feelings I did not expect is that the rush you feel when putting your foot down and accelerating in this car is so addictive, I could just drive around all day everyday. I was sad to take this car back to the dealer but I was also happy that I had had a great experience and also managed to return myself and the car back in one piece (phew!). I’ve always imagined myself driving around in one of these beauties and today I got to do just that.  It was a total dream come true and the perfect addition to my long weekend away and left me wanting my own Ferrari.
