Proverb was set up by Luke and Kirstie Sherriff and Ben Burch, with a mission to “inspire humans to feel better about their skin, body and mindset through being life fuelled.” And with a passion to help people to “feel, think and look better so they can make the most out of everyday.” I was very intrigued by this ethos and, as a result, was excited to receive my parcel from Proverb.

I was sent the refillable deodorant starter set, the hydration pro moisturiser, the strengthening skin serum and the cleanse and shave nutrient mud. I love the idea of the refillable deodorant because, let’s face it, you don’t need a new bottle every time you need a new deodorant. The wild mint and eucalyptus scent is beautiful and fresh and unlike any other male deodorant that I have ever used. I have never used a roll on before so I was a bit unsure as to how I would get on with this, and if it would actually protect me from sweat and odour, but I was pleasantly surprised! It went on very easily and did exactly what it was meant to do, and I feel so confident when wearing this deodorant (adios sweat patches!). This is available in two different scents so you can chop and change every time you need a refill and each stick lasts around eight weeks, if used once a day. The formula is vegan and plant powered, made with natural ingredients so you know your skin is being looked after. Plus, the packaging is 100% recyclable and when you buy the refills you are contributing to helping eradicate single use plastics.

The hydration moisturiser couldn’t have come at a better time with the recent colder weather drying out my skin. I used it twice a day, morning and night, as directed, and within a few days my skin already started to feel revitalised. It is packed with complex amino acids to help tone, strengthen and protect dry skin. I look forward to using this product through the winter to ensure my skin is protected from the elements and stays looking young… and wrinkle free!

The strengthening skin serum is a new one for me as I normally just stick to a moisturiser. As this product is for all skin types I had to give it a go. It is recommended to be applied under your moisturiser morning and night. The information on this product advises that its main features are to strengthen the skin’s ability to protect itself, moisturise, reduce skin stress and UV damage and to also improve hydration. I could definitely tell the difference on the days that I used this serum under the moisturiser; my skin felt stronger and definitely didn’t feel dry. It felt smoother and healthier so if you are suffering with dehydrated skin I would recommend the combination of the strengthening serum and hydration moisturiser, especially in the coming winter months.

The cleanse and shave nutrient mud is fantastic. Great value as it can be used as a face wash or as a shaving cream. Again this is recommended to be used twice a day to get most effectiveness. I tried it out for both of its uses. When using the product purely just for washing my face, I felt that I got a very deep clean but my skin was not left feeling compromised and it felt hydrated and fresh. As a shaving cream it gave me a close shave as it allowed my razor to glide over my skin easily, I massaged the residue into my skin after shaving as recommended and that made all the difference, stopping that dry sore feeling that you can sometimes get after a shave. All in all the Proverb products have a lot to offer for all skin types and the best part is they are actively helping the environment!
